+This is what has been going on around the Sykes household lately.

Lately we have been very grateful for the people who don’t give up on us – even though we don’t deserve friends like that – the people that keep calling. Greg and I were talking this week about how much we love Canton and being apart of this community. We have been here for about five years. I always said I wanted to be a mover and a shaker – but I am not a mover or a shaker – I have been given the opportunity to root in this community and I am so thankful for that. It turns out everything I thought about life is wrong (I mean this in a very optimistic way).  This is our world recently.

+ The bird that chased Poop eye. This bird doesn’t look huge in this picture, but this bird is about the size of my torso. He watches Poop-eye and so we have to keep careful eye on her when we let her out.

+ Sanding chairs

+ A recovered couch for a new office

A few years ago we bought this couch at a Downtown Canton garage sale for $15.  We have been looking for fabric for a while to recover it but could never find anything that was just right. We finally came up with the idea of using canvas painters tarp – it basically looks like linen but is strong like upholstery fabric. We bought a massive tarp for $28 and after recovering the sofa we still have so much fabric. New curtains may be coming soon for a room with the tarp. Greg did all of this! He measured, sewed and stapled. It looks amazing!

+ Some more car fun – but it’s all better now

+ A toe injury. Please excuse my dirty toes – I have been working in the yard a lot.
